Pâtés Rendezvous:
Tartine Style
(and savory flavor)

Tartines - small, open-faced sandwiches often served on French bread, crackers or toast - make delicious snacks, party appetizers or side dishes. Incredibly easy to make, traditional tartines consist of thick bread, a savory spread and accompaniments like cheese, fruits and vegetables.

The key to making a delicious tartine is using flavorful spreads – like Alexian's line of creamy, spreadable mousse pâté.

All of the Alexian Mousse Pâté can be used to create tartines. While a lot of ingredients aren't necessary – the pâtés have more than enough flavor to make tartines delicious on their own – many foods can be added to create colorful and delicious tartines.

Tartines can be customized to show off the colors of veggies like carrots, cauliflower and tomatoes. Smooth, mild cheeses like brie easily add another layer of flavor and everything from sliced fruit to crumbled nuts can be used as toppings.

Mousse Pâtés are perfect for tartines because they can easily be spread onto small slices of bread. A French term meaning "froth" or "foam," mousse style pâtés are rich as well as airy.

If serving as a dinner party appetizer, present small slices of bread and crackers on a tray with a few different pâtés for guests to try. Include a variety of breads as well, and you will have a delicious, beautiful appetizer plate that's as flavorful as it was easy to prepare!

Use your imagination when creating tartines - there are countless variations of tartine recipes that feature meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Here's just one example:

Pâté and peaches tartine

Ingredients:
Sliced French Baguette
Alexian Chicken Liver Mousse Pâté
Sliced Brie Cheese
Sliced Peaches or Nectarines.

Instructions:
Take a loaf of French baguette and slice it, then spread the pâté over the bread. Add a soft Brie cheese on top of the pâté, and then pile small slices of peach or nectarines on top.

The sweetness of the fruit provides a fabulous complement to the full-flavored pâté and creamy yet flavorful Brie cheese.
