Tips for Making a Great Grilled Cheese Sandwich:

Be mindful of the bread! It’s the first thing your palate touches and it can make or break a sandwich. While you can’t go wrong with a quality loaf bread, breads like brioche also make for a tasty treat.

Cook it on low heat. Many cheeses take a while to melt, and you don’t want the bread to crisp up before the cheese is ready. Cook the sandwiches on medium low heat until just melted, then turn it up for the last couple of minutes to get that perfect crisp.

Apply the butter directly to the bread! It’s a sure way to get that beautiful golden crisp you want. Olive Oil is a great substitution for butter if you prefer.
