Pâté Rendezvous:
Oktoberfest Beer Pairings

When paired with the bold flavors of fall beers, the smooth, savory flavors of Alexian Pâtés come to life. It's the kind of pairing that brings out the best of both items, allowing us to discover new depths of flavor and expand the reach of food appreciation.

This fall, whether you're hosting an Oktoberfest party (more on that here) or just entertaining a few friends over football, pair one of our many pates or mousses with your favorite seasonal beer for a new way to savor.

Seasonal Beers

There's nothing better to get you into the fall spirit than pumpkin-spiced ales. Sweet spices complement the savory spice of pâtés like our Pheasant & Rosemary Pâté.

Another fall classic, Oktoberfest beers are full-flavored, copper-hued and rich. They are sweet and heavy, with hints of caramel that act as a subtle yet delicious companion to the pork and pork liver pâtés. A full aftertaste adds depth to mousse pâtés like our Grand Marnier Pâté, which is rich with citrus undertones.

Dark Beers

Porter and Stout beers are dark, bursting with hints of coffee, chocolate, and licorice. Bold beers like these need something that won't be overwhelmed by their flavor – like our Campagne Pâté or Black Peppercorn Mousse. Both are full of savory pork and spices that stand up well to darker brews.

Brown Ales have a malty flavor that pairs fantastically with rich foods. Many of our pates boast rich flavors, but our all-natural Duck Rillette is our number one pick to pair with a brown ale. Slow cooked duck meat in duck fat proves to be a rich and indulgent treat that'll satisfy the whole crowd.

German Beers

For a complete Oktoberfest offering, it's important to have authentic German beers.

A Weissbier is a light beer with a yeasty flavor. To appreciate the flavor notes of this class of beer, it's best to pair it with light options such as our Eggplant & Goat Cheese or our Mushroom and Artichoke vegetable pâtés.

The vegetable flavors enhance the yeasty qualities of the beer, allowing them to work in perfect harmony without overshadowing one another.

A Hefeweizen is another light(er) beer option whose hints of banana and clove complement the sweet basil found in our Tomato-Basil Vegan Pâté.

IPAs

Choosing an IPA with bright citrus notes will bring each and every flavor nestled in our Chicken Ballotine, which is made with white chicken meat, pistachio nuts and a medley of dried tropical fruits.

A red IPA is dark and a bit bitter - but still flavorful and sweet. The bold, red IPA tastes great with our Wild Forest Mushroom Pâté; you need an earthy beer to pair with this earthy pâté.
